Hello! My name is Marci Johnston and I am the main teacher and owner of Lil Scholars Preschool! I have 4 adopted children and I have been a foster mom to many more. I have over 10 years of teaching experience in the public schools and I privately tutored elementary aged children for 3 years.
Lil Scholars was created, when I started looking into preschools for my own children. I found that there were very few quality preschool programs that taught reading, writing, and math by an accredited/licensed teacher. I was disappointed in the size of the classes and the curriculum used. I wanted my children to learn the academic and social skills that would prepare them for kindergarten and give them that head start they would need! When I found out that other parents felt the same way, I decided to open my own preschool.Since August of 2007, Lil Scholars has continued to grow and burst out of the basement classroom, my husband built for us. In order to better meet the needs of working parents and have a lot more room to learn, Lil Scholars opened August of 2008 at 2142 Indianola Ave. This facility is just minutes from downtown and was remodeled for our new preschool classroom and a daycare center that can provide wrap around care for working parents.I can guarantee that your child will love his/her experience at Lil Scholars Preschool and you will be not be disappointed in your child's education or individualized care that they will receive!Ms. Marci's Qualifications:
* B.A. in K-6 Elementary Education from UNI
* Minor in Learning Disabilities
* Masters Degree in Special Education from Drake
* Endorsements in Behavioral Disorders, Mild Disabilities and Instructional Strategist I
* 2006 Excellence in Education Award Nominee
